Lead, tantalum
Concentrated H₂SO₄: lead historical, tantalum modern.
316L, Hastelloy
Dilute H₂SO₄ less aggressive. 316L often acceptable.
Hastelloy, tantalum, PTFE
HCl very aggressive. Specialty alloys or PTFE.
Monel, lead, PTFE
HF dissolves stainless. Monel preferred metal.
Nickel, Inconel
NaOH attacks aluminum, stainless. Nickel preferred.
Titanium, hastelloy
Chlorine atmosphere: titanium and hastelloy options.
316L, PEEK
Most organic solvents OK with 316L. PEEK for aggressive.
316L, duplex, Monel
Marine standard. Choose per severity.
Carbon steel
Most petroleum products non-corrosive to steel.

PTFE: virtually all chemicals at moderate temperature. PEEK: most chemicals at high temperature, weaker against some solvents.
Localized corrosion in stagnant or trapped chemical exposure. Avoid crevices. Use higher-PRE alloys.
Multiple metals + electrolyte chemical = galvanic corrosion. Use single metal or insulate.
Major effect. Many materials OK at room temperature fail at elevated. Verify per service temperature.
