Camera bodies — questions
Materials for camera housings?
6061-T6 most common (good machinability, lightweight, anodizes well). 7075-T6 for higher strength. Magnesium AZ91D for ultra-lightweight. Titanium for premium. POM (Delrin) for non-structural panels.
Sealing standards?
IP66 (rain), IP67 (immersion 1m for 30 min), IP68 (continuous immersion to specified depth). Specify per use environment. We design O-ring grooves and verify with leak testing.
Tolerance for lens mounts?
Lens flange focal distance critical: ±0.02 mm typical. Mount face flatness 0.01 mm. Concentricity to optical axis ±0.025 mm. CMM verified.
Prototype to production?
Prototype 1-3 pcs CNC machined, $300-2000 per piece depending on complexity. Production volumes with tooling investment for cast/molded components reduces per-part cost significantly.
Customer-branded finish?
Custom anodize colors, laser engraving for logos, painted custom colors. Surface finish from matte to mirror polish.
Underwater pressure rating?
Tested per customer depth spec. Wall thickness calculations + safety factor 1.5-2×. Hydrostatic testing to verify rating before delivery.
